DeepSeek App: How to Use It on iPhone and Android

Use the DeepSeek app when you want help drafting a reply, understanding a document or reading text in a photo on your phone. The official DeepSeek – AI Assistant app is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and Google Play for Android.

Start your first chat

Install the app from the appropriate store link above, then open it and sign in. If you already use DeepSeek’s official web chat, use the same account. Otherwise, follow the registration options shown in the app.

Start with one task and the information needed to answer it. For a message you want to send from your phone, you could write:

Rewrite this reply so it sounds friendly and direct. Keep it under 60 words: “I can’t make the meeting tomorrow. Can we move it to Thursday afternoon?”

To change the result, reply in the same conversation: “Make it less formal” or “Keep the original wording, but fix the grammar.” You can refine the answer without pasting the message again.

Use photos, files and search when they help

For a photo or screenshot: use the attachment option to select the image, then say what you need from it. A photo of a printed page might go with “Explain the highlighted paragraph in plain English.” A screenshot of an error message might go with “What does this error mean, and what should I try first?” Check names and numbers against the original image.

For a document: attach the file and ask a focused question, such as “List the deadlines mentioned in this document.” That gives you something easier to check than a general summary. If the answer looks incomplete, ask about the relevant section rather than assuming the whole file was covered.

For current information: use the app’s web search option when an answer depends on recent events or an up-to-date source. Open the linked sources before relying on dates, prices or other details.

Messages and attachments are processed by DeepSeek’s service, so avoid uploading confidential documents or personal information you do not need to share. The official privacy policy explains how that data is handled.

Keep useful conversations easy to find

In your chat history, long-press a conversation and choose Rename to give it a useful title, such as “Interview practice.” Choose Pin for a conversation you return to regularly.

You can continue using the same account in DeepSeek’s official web chat when a larger screen would help. If a recent conversation is missing on one device, refresh the web page or refresh the app’s chat-history sidebar and reopen the conversation. If you get stuck

A verification code has not arrived: check the email address or phone number you entered, then check spam or blocked messages. Codes can be delayed. If you have requested several in quick succession, wait before trying again; repeatedly requesting a new one may not help.

An attachment will not upload: read the error message first. An unsupported format or an upload limit can be the cause. If a size limit is reported, try a smaller copy; if the format is rejected, use one accepted by the app.
